Fundraising and Events Update for IRSF Families and Friends
- Phantom Tea 2007
-

IRSF would like to extend the invitation to all families to take part in the Phantom Tea Fundraiser. In the comfort of their own homes, your friends, family, neighbors and co-workers will pull out the tea bag you sent in your invitation (printed by IRSF) and fill out a check to IRSF in honor of your child. IRSF will send you a list of donors and thank you cards. IRSF will even supply the pre-stamped envelopes and the tea bags! Families, who have participated in the past, have been delighted at the response they have received.
We hope you will join us in towns and cities all over the world as we take a cup of tea and toast to the cure for Rett syndrome. We hope to have a very large group of people around the world sipping a cup of tea, toasting your daughter and wishing for a cure for Rett syndrome. The Phantom Tea is a wonderful way to educate friends and family and raise much needed funds for IRSF's programs. We count on you to make it a great success.
This is an on-going event. Though we launch this campaign in October to celebrate Rett syndrome Awareness month, there is no required deadline to complete your mailings in October. In fact, many people get into the spirit of giving in the weeks leading up to the holidays. We hope you choose to participate, and set the deadline that works for you and your family.
Call IRSF at 1-800-818-RETT for more information or to order your supplies. There is no deadline.
We would like to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of numerous families and friends around the country and even around the world! Ever so important fundraising events have continued without hesitation during the merger of RSRF and IRSA. We, at IRSF, and all of the families affected by Rett syndrome, truly appreciate the efforts, the time and the commitment to the cause that is so near and dear to all of our hearts: Rett syndrome. Regardless of the number of attendees or the amount of money raised, each and every event is critical to the Foundation’s vitality and success. The awareness and crucial funds needed for research, family support, and program services rely on events of all sizes. Without YOU we would not succeed. So, again, we thank you for all you have done.
The following notable events took place between March 10, 2007 and September 27, 2007. A more complete synopsis of each event, including details and pictures, will be included in the upcoming, first-ever IRSF printed newsletter. If I somehow missed your event here, please send me details so you can be recognized in the upcoming newsletter.

- CIBC’s Miracle Day 2007
-
Each year, on the first Wednesday in December, CIBC World Markets employees and clients participate in a major fundraising effort on behalf of children’s charities throughout the world. The fundraising campaign is known as Miracle Day. On Miracle Day, which is being held December 5, 2007, CIBC World Markets donates the amount equal to all trade-generated fees and commissions to support children’s charities. IRSF is honored to be one of the eligible charities again this year. The program will not cost you a cent! It is the traders and brokers at CIBC who are donating their commissions for Miracle Day. Let’s all participate in this event by contacting friends, family and colleagues in the financial services industry to encourage them to work with CIBC and allocate commissions made on Miracle Day to IRSF. Please contact Mary Joyce Griffin at mgriffin@rsrf.org for additional details.
- United Way Campaign 2007
-
Please remember the International Rett syndrome Foundation when completing your designation cards for your local United Way campaign. Please be sure to include IRSF’s federal EIN#: 31-1682518 and the address: 4600 Devitt Drive, Cincinnati, OH 45246. (*Note: While we are not on the official list of any particular United Way Campaign, most campaigns accept designations to your favorite charity.) Please contact Mary Joyce Griffin at mgriffin@rsrf.org for additional details.
- Combined Federal Campaign 2007
-
The Combined Federal Campaign (CFC), similar to the United Way Campaign, allows an individual working for the US Federal Government, including postal employees and military personnel world-wide, to donate through payroll deductions. Please be sure to encourage friends and family to participate. The new code to use is 11046. Please be sure to mention RSRF (not IRSF) as we are not under the new name. Please contact Mary Joyce Griffin at mgriffin@rsrf.org for additional details.
- October is Rett syndrome Awareness Month
-
Let’s work together to make sure the entire world hears about how important it is to join in the fight against Rett syndrome. Increasing awareness ultimately increases our understanding of Rett syndrome and accelerates accurate diagnosis and treatment. We hope you will take a moment during October to educate someone who has never heard of Rett syndrome. If you are in need of an idea of how to participate in Rett syndrome Awareness Month please contact Jennifer Endres at jendres@rsrf.org.
Created from the July 1, 2007 merger of the International Rett Syndrome Association and the Rett Syndrome Research Foundation the newly formed International Rett Syndrome Foundation is the world’s largest private funder of scientific research seeking a cure for Rett syndrome. The core mission of the IRSF is to fund research for treatments and a cure for Rett syndrome and enhancing the overall quality of life for those living with Rett syndrome.
